About Jim
Jim brings more than 30 years of experience in fundraising and administration for academic institutions. His expertise is in planning and managing campaigns, evaluating current programs, defining successful donor strategies, working with governing boards, and identifying opportunities and solutions for growth.
Throughout his career, Jim has:
- Guided a midsize, private Midwestern university through every stage of a comprehensive campaign from campaign readiness and feasibility to early lead gifts and an eventual public phase with emphasis on staff and academic leadership training, board education, and support of campaign volunteers. The campaign exceeded its goals almost two years early.
- Supported a large K-12 Middle Atlantic coed day school through campaign readiness and feasibility to ongoing counsel over eight years, exceeding its goal of $125 million with three eight-figure lead gifts.
- Coached a new chief advancement officer at a West Coast boarding school during his first year of leadership, focused on working with the head of school, supporting the board of trustees, and managing a staff.
Prior to joining Huron, Jim served as director of development at Friends’ Central School, director of advancement at George School, and vice president for advancement at Earlham College.
Jim earned a Bachelor of Arts from Earlham College and a Master of Arts from Brown University.
Jim was awarded the Circle of Excellence award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
