About Kevin
Kevin assists research hospitals and higher education institutions with compliance, financial, and system matters. He has experience working on projects related to research office assessments, the interim management of research offices, specialized service center reviews, policy and procedure writing, business process improvement, system implementation, and post-go-live system stabilization.
Throughout his career, Kevin has:
- Served as the executive director of post-award at a top 10 private research university with an academic medical center, responsible for all aspects of post-award management. This includes letter of credit (LOC) draw, financial reporting, invoicing, risk assessments, effort reporting, F&A rate analysis, single audits, sub-recipient monitoring, overdraft maintenance, and closeouts.
- Acted as senior director of research administration at a large comprehensive cancer center, overseeing pre-award, clinical trials, faculty support, and departmental administration. He improved business processes to expedite the execution of incoming and outgoing agreements, award setup, and proposal development and submission.
- Provided solution architecture leadership in the areas of sponsored and internally funded programs for three Oracle Cloud implementations, including a growing research university, a top-five research hospital, and a multicampus state system. This included support for Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), including Financials, Project Portfolio Management (PPM), Project Billing and Contracts, Grants Management, and Procurement.
- Worked with a large university to enhance compliance with federal research regulations. He developed policies, procedures, and business processes related to allowable costs, effort reporting, cost transfers, program income, cost sharing, summer salary, overdrafts, award setup, award closeout, and invoicing and reporting.
Prior to joining Huron in 2006, Kevin served as a consultant in BearingPoints’s higher education and research practice.
Kevin earned his Bachelor of Arts in economics from The University of Texas at Austin.
Kevin is a member of and frequent speaker at events sponsored by the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA), the Society of Research Administrators (SRA), and the Higher Education User Group (HEUG).
