Matthew has spent more than 30 years helping higher education clients around the globe transform the business of research. Drawing on decades of financial expertise, he helps his clients manage and analyze operational costs, improve research compliance and transform their ERP platforms to advance their mission.

Matthew has served a range of clients across the private and public sector, as well as health systems, research institutions and academic medical centers. He specializes in assisting clients with managerial and regulatory accounting, in operational cost analysis, and in assessing and evaluating research compliance and internal controls. As one of Huron’s leading subject matter experts in understanding and improving the finances of higher education institutions’ research enterprise, Matthew has helped numerous academic leaders position their institutions to thrive and grow their research portfolios in an increasingly complex operating environment. As volatile funding trends and evolving technologies continue to disrupt institutions’ traditional approach to supporting research, Matthew helps clients innovate and adapt their strategic and financial operations to support sustainable growth and improve every aspect of research administration performance.

Matthew has also helped clients manage the selection, installation, software development, implementation and integration of new ERP systems for both private and public sector clients. Over the course of his career, he has helped institutions transform their systemwide strategic and financial operations. Collaborating with his clients to understand their goals and financial operations, Matthew helps institutions advance their mission while creating a platform for ongoing compliance with the unique set of business, regulatory and compliance requirements associated with research administration.

Before joining Huron, Matthew managed the education advisory services practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He also spent seven years honing his financial accounting expertise within an audit, tax and advisory firm.

Matthew holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from The Pennsylvania State University.
