About Patrick
Patrick provides financial, strategic, investigatory, and operational expertise to a range of healthcare clients, including acute care hospitals, healthcare systems, academic medical centers, post-acute and long-term care providers, integrated care organizations, and social and medical services organizations. Patrick has served in CFO, chief operating officer (COO), and board adviser roles in healthcare restructuring engagements. He also leads investigations regarding matters in the healthcare industry.
Throughout his career, Patrick has:
- As interim CFO and COO, led a closed hospital’s emergence from bankruptcy, overseeing its financial, budgeting, and reporting process and operations, ultimately securing Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) certification and Joint Commission accreditation.
- Advised a Northeast academic medical center in the system’s proposed acquisitions of a community hospital, a hospital-based oncology program, a health system, and multiple physician practices, leading black box analyses and reviews of provider contracts with commercial payors.
- Acted as board adviser and led the restructuring of a $1 billion integrated payor-provider comprising several health plans, home health agencies, and skilled nursing facilities.
- Led advisory services and due diligence activities for the sales of several distressed and healthy hospitals and their related assets, approximating $30 billion in revenues.
- Advised the C-suite and board of a $2.5 billion public hospital, developing an executable strategic restructuring plan focused on financial and operational improvement and efficiencies.
Prior to joining Huron, Patrick served as a senior managing director and the national healthcare leader at Riveron. He held the role of a senior managing director in the restructuring practice of Ankura Consulting, as well as senior managing director and national healthcare advisory leader at BDO Consulting. He also served as a managing director at PwC in its healthcare deals practice and as a senior director with Alvarez & Marsal in its healthcare industry group. Patrick also held positions with North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System (North Shore-LIJ, now Northwell Health), and other positions in finance, professional, and advisory services.
Patrick earned a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Fairfield University. He is licensed as an investment banker through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA Series 79 and 63) and is also a certified public accountant (CPA).
Patrick is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Connecticut Society of CPAs (CTCPA), the Turnaround Management Association, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. He is also a member of NYC Health Business Leaders and the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Management Program (HPM) Advisory of Columbia Business School, both of which he served as a board member.
Patrick was recognized on Irish America Magazine’s Healthcare and Life Sciences 50 list in 2018, honoring the top 50 Irish or Irish American leaders in the field.
