In Brief
Huron has incorporated a new solution into the Research Suite: Huron Animal Operations. Research institutions have significant challenges managing their animal research operations in an efficient and compliant manner and must often rely on multiple disconnected applications. Huron Animal Operations is a flexible, automated solution that streamlines animal laboratory administrative processes.
Huron Animal Operations is a comprehensive solution that enables researchers and animal operations staff to:
- Order, import, transfer and export animals as well as request special services.
- Manage protocols, report animal events, process animal orders, receive animals and manage cage cards.
- Create financial accounts, conduct animal census, generate and distribute invoices, and manage animal vendors.
- Oversee research facilities, equipment and inventory, including controlled substances and reservations.
Huron Animal Operations integrates with Huron IACUC, ensuring that a protocol approval triggers the creation of an equivalent record in Animal Operations. Once a protocol is approved and activated in Animal Operations, the research team is ready to place animal orders. Any changes to the IACUC protocol, including a lapse, suspension or amendment, are automatically reflected in the Animal Operations record. As the number of animals used changes, Animal Operations notifies the IACUC to pull the latest metrics.
Huron Animal Operations delivers the intuitive user experience and integration that the research community has come to expect from the Huron Research Suite of solutions. It also includes standard settings and extensions for configuration, contextual help assistance and training materials in the Huron Learning Lab.
