In Brief
Implementing a one-stop interface for all student reporting needs is the first of several Business Intelligence capabilities to come for the University of Wyoming
Struggling with a siloed reporting environment, the University of Wyoming (UW) was lacking a modern system to consolidate over 40 data sources utilized across the institution. Information was being combined through a series of different requests, offices, and reports – making data consolidation arduous, untimely, and significantly hindering decision making. The University of Wyoming sought to resolve the underlying issue: the inability to report on information across the institution in an accurate and efficient manner.
The University of Wyoming embarked on a comprehensive business transformation initiative known as WyoCloud. Through the WyoCloud initiative, UW partnered with Huron to implement a simple, one-stop interface for all student reporting needs. Through the self-service tool, all 1,700 end-users are empowered to access the information they need to support tackling the questions and challenges facing their university.
The rollout of the student reporting platform in March 2017 is the first of several reporting capabilities to come. The University of Wyoming has adopted an iterative approach for releasing reports, allowing for more focus on smaller data sets to guarantee data quality. Following the rollout of student reporting, the remaining efforts include financial and human capital management reporting capabilities.
